I think she ate something in the yard. Not sure what it is. After she had another diarrhea she regained her energy and appetite. The lesson we learned is to keep the yard clean and do not leave her in the yard without supervision.

OP, can you give an update? If you haven't already gone to the ER, try the Hope Center in Vienna, Pender near Fair Oaks, or SouthPaws in Merrifield. I hope your sweet pup is ok.

Not sure what your options are in Sterling, but the Leesburg Emergency Vet is just down the road. I've gone there several times, and found them to be very competent. Another option is the emergency vet clinic in Vienna, VA.

Yes. You need to contact your Vet immediately if you notice black poo. Melena may represent a life-threatening illness. As weird as it may seem, it can be very helpful for your Vet if you take a photograph of the melena to show them during your consultation (or maybe even a faecal sample from your dog!)

Any idea what could have caused it (ie dietary indiscretion)? Given that tomorrow is Sunday and still emergency vet territory, I would take him now. I don’t have recommendations near there. Sorry.
