I don’t see how this is a debate. It’s Sly-go. When in doubt just listen to any traffic report or news broadcast.

"Sly go," and there really shouldn't be a debate. I can be kind of prescriptivist about words, but a place is pronounced pretty much however the vast majority of people from that area pronounce it, regardless of what its origins are (don't know that applies to Sligo, but say, Des Plaines, IL or Lima, OH, for example).
