Submitted comments for a calendar like FFX Cty had this year. No religious holidays. Spring break untethered to 🐣

I submitted comments asking to shorten winter break. Two weeks is so long and it would start on 12/17. I suggested starting winter break on 12/21 and then ending the year earlier. I’m sure they won’t, but I guess it doesn’t hurt to try.

I submitted comments to dump all the religious holidays (including separating spring break from Easter) and just allow religious observances. But, yeah, not going to happen.

+1 The only meaningful difference is starting on a Monday (#1) or on a Thursday (#2). I would expect the vast majority of parents to prefer starting on a Monday vs midweek (at least for elementary students), so it'll be #1.

I submitted comments asking for a shorter winter break (1 wk instead of 2), though I know it'll never happen.

Both options have a little earlier end date for the year - that's a good thing.
Starting mid-August will never fly with Arlington parents.
I wish they would shorten winter break, especially if they're going to keep adding other holidays. Way too many breaks. By the time they get a rhythm going, there's another break. How many full weeks of school do they actually have? Why not make Thanksgiving week a full week off and shorten winter break. At least then maybe they can get something done between T hanksgiving and winter break.

It had two bad options. We will be starting the week before Labor Day because option two was so bad (starting on a Thursday two weeks before Labor Day and ending on a Wednesday) that everyone will shout it down. So the only serious option is the first one.

It will be done before camp sign-ups start in January

Yes! Stupid covid. They were supposed to start doing it in April (so this decision for the 22-23 calendar should have been made in April 2021)

The email says it will be voted on at December 16th meeting.

Are there any indications as to when the 22-23 calendar will be decided?
