But, the stats show that is very simply not true.

98.9% of eligible Montgomery County residents have gotten their first dose. So, less than 2% unvaccinated, as of October 2021.

That is not ‘too many anti-vax’ people by any means.

Did you read the link you posted? It's for eligible residents who have received at least one shot. The percent of eligible residents who are fully vaccinated is 90.1%.

MCPS has been adjusting its quarantine policies since school started, and I would expect MCPS to continue to do so.


Even with one dose, people are protected against Covid. Either way you look at it, we are way past what they said we would need for herd immunity. What is the goal at this point?

Plus, we know that kids in Montgomery County have been safe from Covid. ZERO Covid deaths in kids age 0-19 since the beginning of this pandemic.

No, we are not. Rather self-evidently. There were 103 new positive cases in the county yesterday. There may be a case for loosing the quarantine rules, but "we've reached herd immunity" ain't it.

Yes, quarantine is tough on families, I'm sincerely sorry if it's been tough on yours.


I thought herd immunity was the goal. Is the goal now to have zero cases?

103 positive cases. Out of over 1 million people. That is a tiny number.

Are you a parent?

I love my kids and can handle them just fine. But the 10 day quarantines are burdensome and unnecessary. There is no justification for this nonsense anymore. There needs to be some changes.

Do you realize that the foster care system is totally overwhelmed? What happens to the kids who have no one to care for them? What do you think will happen to them when they grow up?

I don't know but I hope its soon. They keep sending out messages telling us to "say yes to the test" and that by doing so we will reduce the time our kid is in quarantine. But I'm not seeing that in reality. Still have 10 day quarantines, no test to stay.
