Totally agree. Women are their own worst enemies when it comes to professional advancement. Having 1 on 1 time with the boss in an after-work setting is crucial for true mentoring.

Well at least someone didn't blame it entirely on men. So a jealous stay at home wife can indirectly affect a woman's career she never even met?

We changed insurance and needed all new doctors. In the new system, you view a page of photos of doctors and select one, then select the appointment you want. DH asked me how I made my choice for primary care physician, and I said I chose a female doctor who appeared to be at least my age or older. He said, "Oh, I just picked the hottest one."

This. You are explicitly treating subordinates different based on gender and drinks are a much better chance to bond than lunch

I have no idea whatsoever as to what they look like, except the (male) dentist whom we both share.
