One is a flagship that will take OOS rich kids and use that to boost their bottom line. One is a flagship that will take OOS smart kids to boost their class profiles. You go to Colorado when you have money but not scores and you go to Alabama if you have scores but not money.

I'll give you that more people have heard of CU Boulder (even if they identify it as "UC Boulder"). They mostly associate it with woke stoners. That's not prestige.

As "they" do Brown and other very prestigious colleges. THere's always an idiot prepared to make generalizations and dismiss and entire college based on very little actual info... like you for instance...

CU Boulder doesn't give need-based aid to out of state students. Annual cost of attendance https://www.colorado.edu/bursar/costs/fallspring-costs/undergraduate-nonresident

Boulder may offer a little bit of merit, but typically not substantial amounts.

Look at MSU Bozeman.

We make $250K and got nothing.

Too be honest we didn’t make that much always and have medical bills that made it hard to save so my son did not go.

My brother/SIL/nephews went there.

They hike/ww raft/ski/mountain bike all.the.time!

The football is amazing!

Lots of outdoor concerts too.

Great place to go but we could not afford it.

Massachusetts… pot is legal but it’s only Colorado that people say oh pot/stoners… stupid!

Also I'd much rather spend 4 years in Colorado, given the choice.

Boone is about as close as you can get today to the Boulder of 30 years ago. Have you been there?

I'm seeing really different stats depending on which site I look at. Anyone received aid from CU Boulder? How much and for what? This is DS's first choice but I don't know how we'd pay for it...
