We looked all over with idea that a new house could not be under a flight path. There are many areas of DC proper that this is the case, but if you want to be outside the city the only place close in that I found was Chevy Chase (although there is some occasional air traffic - albeit not directly overhead - and there are a ton of helicopters).


Are helicopters flying every minute? It's what planes do, it's so so disturbing, I used to live in huge cities with loads of noise and by the highway, but this is arguably the worst. And there are multi million dollar homes, tons of them in this new flight path and they are ok with it?

No.. this is my first post. We recently moved from a place by the highway to be somewhere quiet and I was shocked that it feels like we are right by the airport while being many miles away and supposedly ( looking at maps) NOT in the flight path... It's literally 30 sec of peace at most I get between the planes all day long! It's crazy, I cannot believe people pay so much money to live in what used to be the plague of marginal and poor neighborhoods that tend to be near the airports. Yes, it's a hardship, I cannot open windows or use the deck, which was a whole purpose moving to the burbs

We are in McLean near Old Dominion -Chesterbrook areas and we only get occasional/very little airplane noise, but we do get helicopters several times a day and military fly overs more than once a month.

We are in Chevy Chase and hardly ever hear planes but we have ALL THE HELICOPTERS.

Eastern MoCo near Glenmont. Once in a while we can hear a jet going to BWI. Otherwise, nothing.

I expected Alexandria to be noisier, seems like your area is closer to the dca than where we are, and yet it's like every fricken plane is flying over our area, they are high up, but noise carries like crazy. I am going to go mad. I cannot move again, I will lose my mind. Is this forever now?

We are in NE DC and never hear planes. I am always surprised when I visit my parents in Bethesda how noisy the planes are. Yes houses are a lot more expensive there so obviously airplane noise isn’t a big factor in housing prices.
