I do wonder if more people need to stop pushing kids to go straight to college after high school. It just seems like there are so many threads from people who are concerned, but then bow to the norm.

+ 1 the prestige comes from its grad programs and the small percentage of OOS students so this is surprising.

Truly heartbreaking and so tragic.

But please stop guessing at the reasons. Suicide is a top killer of 18 to 22 yr olds who aren’t even in college and was a top killer pre-covid.

I have a college freshman, not at UNC. This is just so heartbreaking: I know there are ppl out there who say well what do you expect, college is hard. But these ppl fail to see that the drill drill drill way of teaching and learning is not worth a human life lost so young.

i agree with the freshman interviewed that the one day of wellness is not enough. Schools need to do more.

This is so sad. Apparently, two students killed themselves in September and there was a suicide and one attempted suicide over the weekend.
