I became much closer to my little sister when he husband left. It was so sudden and she was heartbroken. I just offered and gave whatever support she needed. I had no opinions (that I shared with her) about custody. I’m cordial when I see her ex at kid’s birthday parties but not engaged or warm.

All siblings became closer. We were heavily involved throughout the entire divorce. Sibling getting divorced was very beaten down after years of emotional abuse and manipulation and ready to get out at any cost. Cheating ex was proposing settling without lawyers, 80/20 custody, giving her all the equity and the house, etc. We made sure sibling had a good lawyer, got 50/50 custody, and fair settlement. Sibling came to us for help and was receptive of it. I give him credit for realizing he needed help and listening to us.
Then what happened? What did he do w his 50/50 custody?

It would be worse if they had cheated or otherwise done something egregiously bad. But if they hadn't and needed my help, we might come out of it closer than we were. However if they needed or wanted more help than I wanted to give, boundaries. Or if they were making bad financial choices.

I don't live near them but it is no different than it was before they got divorced (two different siblings have been divorced). I'm not sure why it would be?
