This doesn't bother me at all.

OMG Lucy is a total dog name. My image of Lucy is cute, and sweet, and kind, and loyal. All the things I want my dog and my kid to be.

If I didn't have only boys and an awesome niece named Lucy, I might have used it myself.

In this world. Tell me your daughter’s name and I’ll respond with, “That’s a dog’s name!” Let me know how it feels.

I love love love dogs and cats with “people” names like Ava, Oliver, George, Betty, etc. I think it’s so cute.

A friend who fosters kittens said that the cuter the name, the more likely the cat will get adopted, so no Fluffy but instead Georgia or Lucy or Giovanni or something creative.

My kids want to name our me t puppy Ella. They each have two Ellie’s in their classes (and youngest has three Sophia’s) so I wouldn’t feel right about naming a dog Ellie.

I love the name Joan for a dog.

Haha. I had a cat named Henry right at the start of the Henry boys name trend. Sorry not sorry.

I think it’s funny! Especially to the posters who ALWAYS post that the name you like is a dog’s name.

It’s either a comment on the name-fads of our generation or the owner just really likes the name for her “baby” like we do.

I don't understand that though process. Why would it be mean-spirited?

People love their dogs, OP. It's not like they are naming their poop "Ava" or "Sophia" before they flush it down the toilet in disgust.

No it is not mean spirited. Nobody owns a name!

A college friend named her dog Ava at the height of the Ava craze and now a poster here named her dog Sophia. A neighbor’s dog is named Ella.

Feels mean spirited to me.
