Yes they are in preschool, not at the same one as mine.

If no interaction occurs on the parents part and assuming no health conditions, do kids eventually train themselves? Anyone ever tested this?

It’s very unusual for a child to wear diapers at four. There must be a medical issue.

Kids who start kindergarten have to be potty trained. The exception is if there are special needs involved abd a documented disability. A regular kindergarten teacher cannot change diapers.

It’s possible there is a medical issue and your friends are covering for it. But unless the child has medical documentation of a disability, no kindergarten is going to let in an un-potty-trained kid.

Just curious if this is common or not. Our friends kid is friends with our kid and they will go to kindergarten together next year. The kid is turning 5 this year and has never been potty trained for either pee or poop. The kids parents still change the diaper throughout the day. I had never heard of this but of course I have never said anything as I don’t want to offend the parents. I also know that it’s not due to a medical issue; as the parents have told us casually in the past that they just haven’t really forced it and assumed they would have just learned on their own eventually. I’m just more curious than anything if this is more common than I realized nowadays? Are there kids who start kindergarten not potty trained?? How do the schools handle it?
