I agree with PP. ECU is below a number of other NC publics, not just UNC and State. App State, UNCW, UNCA, and UNCC are superior to ECU academically.

Agreed, I don't think there is one. Temple is probably equivalent in terms of admissions difficulty, but very different setting and vibe. Honestly, closest thing would probably be Penn State.
