Apparently NOT! They seem to be doing just fine without him!

Don't be talking about an individual player please.

If a team doesn’t qualify for National Playoffs or Finals, then a recruiting opportunity is lost.

Spot on. Being a bottom feeder is not what clubs strive for year on year. Of course winning matters.

Loudoun rosters a zillion players in hopes of finding the right combination. Not working and never has. Loot at the struggling VDA program, several coaches have been fired cuz they are not getting positive results so they panic. How bout SYC, they teach with a win now mentality, at all cost (using every trick on the book to get that W at younger ages). Kids get older and all of the sudden they cant win. VA Union seems to make it a point to flush out perceived weaker players and replace them with perceived ballers, is it working? BRYC, well, i wont go there cuz everyone will start defending them on how great the program is.

Common theme among area teams: Let's play the American way. Let's recruit the biggest kid who can pound you and win that way. If we can't get that big kid, let's sacrifice players and make them mini linebackers and go with it. Let's play kick ball and get an easy score. Parents who kiss ass the most get our attention (volunteer or $donations, don't matter).

Player pools and lack of leadership does not seem to be an issue with clubs like Alexandria and Arlington.

Not entirely true. If a team doesn’t qualify for National Playoffs or Finals, then a recruiting opportunity is lost.

troll or n00b post…

If you’re trolling I see what you did there.

If you’re a n00b and truly don’t understand how a club established for well over 4 decades, with ownership of their fields (only club in the area with such privilege), with tentacles inside parks and rec as well LCPS (allowing them to bully or outright block other clubs of receiving public field allocation), with an alleged plethora of top-notch A grade coaches… then I have a bridge to sell you.

Just kidding, just look at the ‘leaders’, ask them about the club’s philosophy or their goals for their clients and maybe you’ll begin to understand why their one of NOVA’s main embarrassments in the soccer community.

As you said, generally speaking. Because age groups by age group, that doesn’t hold true.

Agreed. It is pointless to talk about it at that level of generality. Younger age groups are not looking strong at Arlington.

Union/McLean U19 is neck and neck for first with Richmond. Not sure where Arlington fits in...

Look at the older age groups: Loudoun and union are the only NOVA teams in top 5 at u18/19. Next is vda in 8th place. U17 you have Loudoun in 2nd and then Arlington in 8th followed by other NOVA teams. At U16, you have Arlington in 2nd and then bryc, union, Loudoun in 7-9 with basically the same record. So in the college recruiting age groups where it matters, Loudoun is doing fine.

Girls seem to be a bit more organized than the boys. Boys ECNL is a crap shoot.
