We are recent immigrants, recent by most standards, and trying to understand this request. Is there a lot of animosity towards Jewish people in Southern colleges? What about towards Muslims or Hindus who probably stand out more than Jews (who IMO are as White as any other White person)? Getting worried now that I've read this thread for my kids.. This topic has never come up in discussions with other immigrant friends.. Thanks!

How did people know students were Jewish at Emory, unless their names were like, Mordechai Bernsteinberggoldman? I never told anyone I was jewish until after I'd established they were open-minded enough to not care.

My parents required me to go to a school that was at least 10% Jewish. Back then, there were actually books with the published statistics. I’m sure it’s all online now.

Hillel has stats on most schools (not all schools are affiliated with Hillel though). Sign up for their college guide. Also, there is a good FB group for Jewish parents of older teens. Lots of college info.

"Heavily" Christian means what, large portion of "people identifying as a member of a Christian religion when they apply," or more substantive, as in heavy presence of proselytizing evangelicals? Many more schools may fall into the former but not the latter.

Might also look at schools from the opposite direction. See whether the campus has a Hillel group and how large/active.

Emory has a lot of Jews

I expect looking at the "History" section of many smaller schools might give you a sense of their origins. Many smaller colleges were founded with affiliations to particular church traditions and while most have moved well beyond them (e.g., schools more like Davidson, perhaps), not all of them have (e.g. Sewanee). Getting a sense of whether that original relationship existed might be a clue to places where you'd need to dig deeper.

We moved from very Jewish MoCo to Atlanta a few years back. Now we are looking at colleges. We have been told that there are some schools that may be non-denominational, but are heavily Christian. Does anyone have any insights where I might find such info, or are we just going to have pick schools then figure it out? TIA
