Parents want to come in and supervise outdoor lunches for free but don't want to sub at all because then they'd have to come to grips about other inconvenient truths.

My old roommate is a teacher that left this year, and she’s been living off credit cards while trying to find another job. Pretty sure she’ll go back next year. I feel bad that she can’t find anything better.

Taking care of my own child at home is more important than getting paid peanuts to sub in violent ACPS schools. Pass.

Substitute Teacher pay is: $15.59 an hour
Substitute Assistant pay is: $13.46 an hour

In Falls Church City it's $16 hr for teachers and $12 hr for paras. Tell me why anyone would want to sub for a para at that rate.

The sub situation was very dire before covid. I am quite sure it is much worse now in every school system. I am recently retired and would be a super sub but I won't consider it due to covid safety reasons. I am vaccinated but just the petri dish dynamics of a school give me pause. Maybe later. Like next year. And retirees make the best subs, ask anybody.

Not OP but it’s every school system. We are asked to cover each other during the day and we have our own classes to teach because they can’t find subs to take the jobs. Don’t do it for the money. It doesn’t pay anything. This of this as volunteer work so kids can have some type of supervision.
