For politics the state department. It's unpaid. This is why rich people get ahead.

For performing arts

IMF https://www.imf.org/en/About/Recruitment/working-at-the-imf/fund-internship-program

For entertainment get a job at The Anthem, Meriweather Post, Strathmore hall.. something like that.

It sounds like you and your kid are really on different pages.

You asked "what is best paying?" He is passionate about "politics and the performing arts."

That is a dramatic disconnect.

I am reading between the lines that you are trying to recast him. That is not fair or respectful. A supportive parent would be researching ways for him to follow his passion.

It is high time that you embraced who he is, instead of trying to get him to be more like you or some fantasy son that you do not have.

The best paying internships are probably not related to politics or performing arts but he can probably have some wonderful experiences.

Exactly. The students I know who have had internships in politics, they were all unpaid.

My DH is a tech executive and tech companies have very well-paid internships. But these are typically for Engineering and Comp Sci students.

Not really, they were just all virtual last summer.

Every single solitary internship was virtual last year, really? How about 2020?

Are people this stupid?

+1 ideally, the internship is about getting good experience, not maximizing $$.

Investment Banking Summer Internships, especially in New York City are among the best paying. For the best pay, internship in father/mother owned business.

Does school have resources to help the kids on internships and carted placements?
