What!! If anything a team at U16 needs space to practice long balls. A well run practice would include once a week a internal scrimmage 20 minutes with another team, 11v11.

1/2 fields sounds luxurious. PPA team sometimes has 6-7 teams on one field or sometimes they give the team a tiny patch of weeds to practice on.

Professional teams don’t even train on a full field, why would a youth team ?

I spoke with several parents, and they informed me that all of their practices are on half the field. On any given night there's 4 teams practicing at the sometime on different halves of the field(Theres 2 fields). Is this common? How do these kids perform in regular games on a full field? Im curious as to how many clubs only practice on half a field

What are you going to do with a full field and 17 players?

What would you do with a full field? Do you have 22 kids on the team to scrimmage 11v11? And not use the space the other 75% of practice?

Are you from an area with more land space? I mean, this is the dmv. We are not rolling in wide open prairie.

Half a field is plenty for a team playing 11v11

We play 7v7 so what is our field, half a field? Therefore we practice on a quarter. Lol. It works!

Half a field for one team is luxurious. Yes it's common and even top tier teams sometimes have to take a quarter of a field for training. The kids perform fine--ECNL clubs all over the place.

This is normal, they work on foot skills, drills and small sided games. Sometimes they play the other team in a full field game.
