A few things to consider:

If you've paid the fees for the entire year, it's tough for the club to hold on to the pass.
-- Your DD won't be able to move from one CCL club to another mid-year (CCL rules prohibit this unless you move and the distance is prohibitive). Likewise, she can't move from one ECNL club to another per ECNL policy.
-- If your daughter is looking to move from a team using a VYSA pass to a team using a club pass (e.g., from a CCL/EDP, NCSL team to an ECNL or GA team), then you're in luck. You don't need them to release her pass. It's a different pass altogether and the new club can just roster her.

Just to be clear, if you're leaving a CCL/EDP/NCSL team (which use VYSA passes) to go to an ECNL or GA team, the VYSA pass doesn't need to be released because ECNL/GA use something different (aka their own pass system)?

Read the contract and go to the carding authority website. The club can hold your dd’s card till you pay the balance. Now Maryland and Virginia are different carding orgs. So you might be able to move across state lines and play. Where ever you are heading will know the rules.

I will say if you sue it will not be settled this year but you will most likely win. The court will favor the kids over the clubs. The court will look at the money paid to the club, how the club will not be providing that service but you still have to paid for the rest of the year and restricting kids from playing some place else. Worst case you lose the deposit and what you have paid.

No they can’t hold your card.

I did call the club head and the parent in charge of cards (who was clearly holding it to be a d!ck) acted like I kicked his dog.

I gave them 3 weeks notice though and offered to 2nd card with them.

I would reread the agreement that you signed. If it says it's for the whole year, they can likely keep the players card. It's bad business to do so though, and punitive. Most clubs will release you however unless you go in with guns blazing.

Every club is different. If you committed to a whole year and still have a balance, they should released the card after you pay off the balance. If I'm not mistaken the other club can still register your DD as her secondary team.
