I don't card the trick or treaters. I'm not worried about their ages.

My DD and her friends went ToT-ing through middle school, and then in high school they'd use someone's younger sibling as a reason to get to go. But my area (San Francisco) is not uptight about such things - we'll give candy to full-on adults.

8th grade is the oldest in our community.

It’s candy. Why do people care of the kid is 2 or 17, as long as they are behaving properly and the older kids are being respectful of the young ones. I would rather the teens trick or treat then TP the neighborhood.

No such thing as too old. Even adults get candy at our house.

With that said, my teens dress up but then go to the movies or a friends house. They buy clearance candy the next day.

Anyone too young to drink? Sure it might seem weird at first for older teens to go trick or treating. But what else should they be doing? And who doesn’t love candy?

I will give candy to anyone in a real costume. I'd rather they trick or treat than get into trouble. But yeah, junior high and above is a little weird.

I used to think there was such a thing as being too old to trick or treat, but now I think that there should be more joy in this world for older kids too. So I am happy to give out candy to anybody and my kids can dress up and trick or treat for as long as they want.

I am happy to give candy to any little kid (in costume or not) and any older kid in a costume. My then-8th grader trick or treated last year with no problems, although she probably will not this year.

Saw someone post in in the Elementary forum that their 10 year old was "aging out of Halloween." I feel like 6th grade is sort of the limit for trick or treating, but my kids seems to have no sense of this, which I find sort of amusing and cringey. What was your experience?
