Some schools actually post in their website how much merit $ they will give to a student with a certain gpa/standardized test score - whether a combo or either/or. Not sure how those scales apply to transfers, but that could be a place to start your inquiries.

He is a sophomore at a T50 in California (that I will not name for privacy reasons) and is in the 3.5~3.75 GPA range. Also we don't live in Virginia or Maryland.
