Yep. People flash their lights at you as if you have the high beams on. I think it’s especially bright in SUVs because of the higher level.

My car has automatic high beams. It detects ambient light or approaching light and turns them off.

But the regular beams are pretty bright also -- they are Xenon lights supplemented by laser and LED lights.

You're confusing it with LED lighting, which is literally an eyesore, OP.

Also, I don't know if you've driven at night in dense urban areas, before, but you can't compare apples to oranges. You might never see a high beam or LED beam in less dense areas, but in the city, or near suburbs, you're bound to notice someone driving like this. It's a numbers game. I've driven in lots of cities around the world that have the same issue, and it's made me hate driving at dusk or night, especially if it rains: the raindrops reflecting the more or less intense beams give me a splitting headache.

NP - Well, yes, technology has made lights brighter. But having brighter headlights for the driver shouldn't blind oncoming traffic. So you don't have to be old to feel that this may not be the best "improvement."

Emergency vehicles are big culprits of this.

It's not an improvement in technology if it is blinding people on the road.

Besides, they're high beams, because you can tell by the pattern of their headlights genius.

I'm on 270 and 495 all the time and I've only seen maybe a handful of drivers with their high beams on. Where it gets annoying are the dark roads with no lights. I turn mine on when no one is driving towards me but there are a few inconsiderates who don't reciprocate.
