I don’t know what the right thing to do is. My kid also has a mild cold. Guess where he got it? School, because he hasn’t been anywhere else. Negative Covid test. Obviously someone else thought it was ok to send a kid in last week with the cold. So the whole class was already exposed to the same cold germs. I dunno…

I’m also a teacher. Parents would rather you don’t send your sick son to spread his cold to his teacher and other kids in his class. You need to find a babysitter.

It’s not easy to find, honestly. I’ve been trying. Doing my best, I promise.

I send my kids with a negative PCR as long as there’s no fever, no severe cough, and my kids has a good appetite and energy. Otherwise, they stay just as before Covid. I wouldn’t have sent my feverish, hacking child to school pre 2020. But a sniffle and a mild cough, sure, they go to school.

Same situation here but it's a bad cold, kid is sneezing and blowing her nose a lot. I'm going to keep her home. If it were truly minor, like just barely noticeable congestion and she felt fine, I might send her with a negative PCR test.

It's not COVID; send your kid in.

Normally if they feel ok I would say send them. Given the current climate with Covid I would keep at home. I kept my kid home one day last week with only a sore throat. To the PP that is a teacher, what is your normal plan for a sick kid? If your spouse is a frontline worker I assume they have SL? I am a first responder snd if my kid is sick I use SL and stay home with my kid. You need a better plan.

Our school attendance policy says doctor's note after 4 days absent.

It is not easy for high school students to miss time at school. I think if you are sure it is not Covid and the symptoms are mild, mask them and send them to school. If this is a younger child then I would keep them home. Younger children are less able to control themselves and their hygiene. I am dreading this decision for myself because of course on the one hand I want to say everyone with any symptoms should stay home but I am not sure that is realistic for high school students.

Seriously, how is this even a question on if you keep a sick child home? Yes, please send your sick kid to school and infect the entire school so you can have your free child care. So looking forward to getting that cold from your child.
