I also don't have kids, and I'm currently single, and to be totally honest, I'm not sure I love anyone. Not even my parents, siblings, nieces and nephews. Yes, I spend time with them but only on the requisite occasions birthdays, hospitalizations, holidays, celebrating a new baby, and funerals. I'm not sure that is love though. I don't particularly enjoy hanging out with them. I think I might miss them if they die, though I'm not certain about 2 of them. I actually strongly dislike 2 of them.

I don't know if I love my sister, we are estranged, but if something terrible happened to her, I would be devastated, so I guess I do?
A bunch of friends I've known since childhood. Maybe 5 of those.
That's probably it.

I really love, in this order (I'd never admit publicly, lol!):
1. DH & kids
2. Brothers
3. Dad
4. Mom (she's got issues), my closest aunt, and my closest cousin who's almost like a sister
- all my grandparents are dead, but my last living grandma would be high on the list, maybe even up there with DH & kids. She was so amazing and kind and I lost her to Covid last year.

So I guess I'd say I really "love" 10-11 people on earth.

All my friends... It's hard for me to say if I really love them? I mean, it's a different kind of caring, not as deep, and maybe with less responsibility so it doesn't feel as powerful.

I'm curious about this because DH grew up in a large family where everyone always said they loved each other, even if they had close to no relationship. The only people I truly love are DH, my parents, siblings, and grandparents. There are others that I care about (in-laws, friends), but would not say I love, and my feelings about extended family (cousins/aunts/uncles) are generally fond but nothing deep.

P.S. I don't have kids - don't want to cause alarm that I have children I don't love!
