Have to say Georgetown was on the list and we love the area but almost stepping on a dead rat on the sidewalk led to some more google research and finding out about the widespread rat and cockroach problem. That was enough for my DS to take it off his list haha

Sewanee had way too many people in fraternities for a small school

To quote my child, a first-year, "it's too elitist."

I mean, there's no "campus" only "grounds" and all that high-falutin' nonsense for a school populated by overachieving Ivy League rejects (my child included).

Of course, Ivy League is full of elitists who put on airs too, as I reminded my child.

Hmm my first years don't think of it as elitist but they do think that people drink WAY too much. Hopefully that will settle down, it's like this group of kids has never been let out of the house because they are going hog wild! Which is provably the case in part due to Covid. Otherwise, they like it (and were not Ivy bound).

But yeah, alot of people who visit don't like it. It happens. My kids had long had it at the top of their list.

W&M came off the table for my DD, she HATED the sample dorm room and we were there on a beautiful day in the fall and no one was outside hanging out, every one was in the library (which we also toured and was packed)

VCU. My son HATED the urban campus environment. That tour also took any other urban campus off the table.

The campuses felt like overly manicured imitations of the kind of schools that they're trying to emulate, without much substance. I'm sure the kids who go there are bright, but there was just something off about both schools.

University of Richmond. Had a creepy stepford wives vibe to it.

UVA. There is something just so sinister about Charlottesville. I can’t put my finger on it.
