I don't have the ability to share a car with anyone. When I am ready to leave in ready to leave. We both had opposite commutes ore kids. I hate the idea of being stranded or having to wait for a ride.

Yes because we live in the suburbs and drive opposite directions to our respective jobs. No car payments though, we bought used cars we could pay cash for.

We have always had to cars because we’ve always lived places where we each needed a car during the day. We also both grew up in suburban, car-dependent areas so this feels normal to us.

We did because we had the cars before we got married and saw no reason to consolidate. Mine was paid off, his payment was just 100 a month. But then I totaled my car and we didn’t get another. In fact we just barely became a two car family, and the kids are 13 and 9. I don’t like car payments either, OP.

"Transportation" doesn't have to equal "car."

Yes. We already had two cars when we moved here.
Will probably keep two cars, a smaller fuel efficient car (or hybrid or electric) and a four wheel drive SUV or wagon.

we live in VA. my husband works in MD, I work further into VA. it would take us easily twice as long if we used public transportation.
