Pray tell, what nonsense?
I'm pushing back against the Stafford County Board of Supervisors meddling in the affairs of educators. Shame on them. Recall them.

This is pathetic.

The resolution concludes:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Stafford County Board of Supervisors on this the 21st day of September, 2021, that it be and herby (sic) does denounce the teaching of the 1619 Project and critical race theory (CRT) and related
principles in Stafford County Public Schools; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board does not support students of Stafford County Public Schools being requested to identify their chosen pronouns.
One of the "whereas" clauses says the Board of Supervisors will "stringently review all appropriation requests from the School Board" to ensure funding isn't dedicated to the practices they denounce. The resolution doesn't go into any detail on what they mean by "critical race theory" or "teaching of the 1619 Project," so it's a little tough to know what kinds of things would trigger them to withhold funding. Some pedants would say that CRT is only an obscure school of legal theory that would never find its way to the classroom. Others might characterize CRT as anything that discusses racism as an ongoing thing. And there is a whole lot of ground in between. And, it's tough to say whether "teaching of the 1619 Project" just means having the kids read the essays from the news paper project. Or, would teaching about the events described in the newspaper project also cause consternation?
