We're doing Toy Story characters for similar ages. Bo Peep or Jessie for your daughter, Buzz or Woody for your son.

If you move away from only doing female characters for your DD it may be easier. Dog Man and Petey. Harry Potter and Hermione, or Harry Potter and Hedwig. Darth Vader and Yoda. Spider and pig for Charlotte's Web.
