Parent with the club…
Our child respects her ecnl coach and teammates. Commute is why we are there and as long as my kid is developing and learning in a positive environment (which it is) then I don’t care about the losses. Her team could use some additional talent and I at time wish kids who are the bench at other clubs would give us a try. The choice to stay has been my child’s decision.

If you play at BRYC, you could easily get to VDA or possibly McLean. Arlington possibly a choice but that's it.

I would look to other ECNL clubs, I don't see BRYC remaining in ECNL much longer.

The BRYC Girls went 1-11-0 this weekend.

They have been answered, OP. If DD is a starter then probably won't have a problem being on the ECNL team at U13 and getting playing time which would meet her goal of aspriing for ECNL.

And if your DD is truly mediocre (good but not a top player), well then sure move along and have her spot replaced by someone better from another club. That's fine, too.

OP here. Thanks for the feedback so far, well most of it. Seems like I'm not getting a lot of specific comments on my questions. Maybe I'm too far into the weeds...

This, and it will just take 3-5 years for that imact to be felt. Plus other clubs come in and try to cherry pick the top talent that actually is in the academy and the academy in the past hasn't done its homework on the top talent that is on the bridge teams and misses out on having some of those on the ECNL rosters. There are several bridge players at age level from U13-U17 who would be starters on existing BRYC ECNL rosters.

Between the bridge U10G team and the three bridge U11G teams where several U10s are playing up there are enough for 2 more 7v7 teams at the U10 level that would be able to challenge the current top U10G team. Consolidate that talent and that would be a very competitive team of 2012s come time for 11v11 when mixed with the current top U10G team.

One of the challenges at the youngest age group will be are they going to have enough staff to cover all the teams as those U9s move onto U11/U12 and U13+. There will be potential for at least three teams at all age levels in 3-6 years with the adjustments now.

- What is going on at BRYC? I always thought of them as a good club. Why are they doing so poorly? Seeking honest feedback? Is it coaching, culture? (PLEASE DO NOT TURN THIS INTO A FCV vs. LOUDOUN TROLL THREAD)
- Is it better to move at U12 or wait until ENCL starts at U13?
- Would it be better to drive farther and be a non-starter at a better performing ECNL club or just go to bryc, have a better chance to start and then consider moving to a better club at older ages (U16-ish)? (I saw a post that said a club has over 20 girls on the top team - how does that work? Is it a lot of substitutions like hockey so these teams do well due to a constant influx of fresh legs during the game)
- For 2nd ECNL teams, what leagues do they play in? Are they competitive and get the same training as the top teams?

Thanks in advance

In terms of losses? Then yes, BRYC is much > than Loudoun.

Haha. Didn’t take long for a staffer or fanboy to come and defend the everloving Loudoun club.

Says a lot indeed.

Just setting the facts straight after an erroneous statement was made. Sorry, but not a "staffer or fanboy" here. Not even part of the club, but just hate when people spout crap on anonymous boards like this.

I rather see my DD playing than celebrating the team wins. At younger ages the more playing experience the more benefits. There are some weak areas that the team/club could fix.
I would be extremely frustrated to keep my DD in a team that often replaces half of its team during their senior year.

Talent is spread out over too many teams. There is no centralized player pool. The club is fixing that with the current U9s, but as a parent, this seems to be the biggest problem.

BRYC has a good training environment on the whole, but the teams not being competitive will be a problem going forward. Their second teams (called Composite) by and large have been very successful-last year, they went to Nationals at U15. They will have their second teams in ECNL-R next year which is emerging as the best second level league (over CCL and NCSL) but there is some concern that BRYC could lose ECNL if they continue being noncompetitive on both boys and girls sides. The current girls TD gets mixed reviews from both the girls and parents.

Put your kid on the best team they can make and actually play on. Understand that rosters are going to change every year. A U13 roster will look nothing like a U18 roster.
