I see other friends' kids in daycare and it looks like they are doing all sorts of fun stuff, like arts and crafts and just socializing with other kids. Mine is my first, so no other kids to play with, and I am running out of ideas of things to do. I feel like I'm disadvantaging him.
I've put two kids through daycare. They don't do arts and crafts or anything like that until they are about 2.5. They don't play *with* kids until they are probably closer to 3...they play alongside kids. Daycare at the earlier age is somewhere safe to keep your child, and a good one will help them hit developmental milestones like walking and talking through play and reading books to them. You can do things like Music Together and library time, and Moms groups to get socialization (for you and baby).
