No, actually calling a bank, getting a real person, and then getting transferred to the "right" real person can take hours. And at the time, made NO SENSE if this is a normal amount of time for these things to take.

Are you talking about an ACH then? Wire transfers usually mean a transfer done using a SWIFT code. Domestic transfers are usually done using the bank's ABA numbers. ACH may happen the next day or take 3 days. It depends.
