Does anyone know what is going on with the 2007s? It’s a shit show. We were supposed to hear who made it yesterday, but no word yet. My 06 made it but my 07 is still awaiting his email.

I think ODP is a good opportunity for top players at middle-tier clubs to get noticed and experience higher level training. Often, these girls are the first ones top-tier clubs think of when a spot opens up on their rosters. If you're already at a top-tier club, ODP isn't as valuable.

If you play ECNL, ODP is a massive step down. I'd say it's for the all-stars of regular travel to get good exposure. If any ECNL girls do participate, it's likely because that's what they've been doing and it's a formality to walk on the team. It's something to do.

District ODP training is just for the coaches to get a look at the kids. Half the kids aren't there at any given session for a variety of reasons. The state team will be selected from how well they do at the inter-district scrimmages. I would worry too much about attending all the practices.

Never mind the fact that ending at 930pm on a school night for girls traveling 1+ hour home from ODP practice is asinine. Seems like boys and girls are struggling for players and credibility.

Boys practice at Loudoun Soccer Park 8:30-9:45. Not great getting home at 10:30 on a Sunday night and then up at 6:30 for school the next morning.

Bingo. ODP killed participation this year big time. The person running the schedule needs to be fired.

Most kids had 2 games this weekend. Some teams are short players so they played 3-4. Having ODP on the Sunday night of opening weekend is poor planning. Of course there was low turn out.

DS went to first district training last night and only about 20 kids showed up plus a coach who’d didn’t look like he wanted to be there. Maybe ODP is still good for the really young age groups but not sure it’s worth it for older ones.
