Buy, we keep them till they die (12-20+) and financially it makes more sense to buy.

Buy, because we buy reliable cars and keep them for ~8 to 10 years.

I think too many people obsess about never having a surprise $900 car repair bill, yet to accomplish that they take on a lifetime of $500 monthly car lease bills.

I would only lease a sexy-but-unreliable car that I wanted to enjoy for 36 months and then turn in before it turns into a reliability nightmare.

Also, a few years ago certain companies like BMW used to offer really compelling lease deals...to the point where if you did your negotiation homework a lease could often come out to be a better value than a purchase. Now with the global car shortage, these insanely discounted lease deals have essentially dried up.

I buy and generally keep them at least 5 years. My wife leases because she always wants a car that’s under warranty.
