FFS. Who ever thinks "I hope my kid does shitty." AT ANYTHING IN LIFE?! You want them to have fun, do their best and you hope they do well (but you don't lay those neurosis or live vicariously through them). It's sad to see your kid's disappointment, but it is part of life and a learning experience. Hopefully, you have equipped them with grit and perseverance and they correlate hard work with improvement.
