I like the community of GP for my son. It is much more free as I have heard. STA is a bit stuffy, and limited. Was your son accepted to STA? I don't know about you, but I like this kind of conversing because it informs each party. Good job! Lay out all your thoughts!
Hi. 22:07 here. Congrats to your son for getting into two great schools and having a choice. My son entered STA in 7th and will be in 9th next year, so he and your son would be classmates. I have never seen GP, so I have no opinion about the community there. The community of STA really felt right to my son, and he had a great affinity to the place right from his first visit, which grew with every visit. My son applied and was admitted also to Sidwell and GDS but chose STA. I agree that the atmosphere at STA is formal but it doesn't seem "stuffy" or "limited" to me, but I happen to like the traditional prep school atmosphere because that is the kind of school I attended (although mine was a *girls'* school). Because I am sending DS to private school for the academics, the rigorousness of the academic curriculum and the college-placement record do matter to me, and it seems that STA does better than GP in those two respects.
