Whatever. He was 31 and this happened in 1995, almost 30 years ago. Has it happened since? Recently? Is there a pattern of this behavior? He doesn't even drink now. There's no record he said anything about poor hearing to the cop at the time of the incident, BTW. I assume that was some spin given during an election campaign. I agree it sounds like he was drunk driving and he's damn lucky he didn't cause an accident. But it also sounds like it was a one time thing, and MANY MANY politicians have much worse substance abuse issues than that; he's apologized and learned from it, and drinks no more.

Meanwhile, Trump's payoff hush money?  No that wasn't potentially life threatening to anyone. But it was hugely more relevant because it was part of a pattern of contempt for the law, it was in 2016 RIGHT before the election!  And also he was 70 at the time, not 31.   Did Trump apologize? Say he was wrong for doing it?[/quote]
