They facilitated a legal proceeding — like marriage or adoption— that they told you would make you legally a member of their family forever. They engaged in multiple projects — books, a film, numerous lectures— that focused on your relationships with each other as members of a family. Then one day, you found out that your family was not your family, and that you had been misled about the meaning of the legal proceedings by multiple people that you had grown to trust. [/quote]
