I'm guessing you'd need at least 50,000-70,000 feet of tether cable since the submersible doesn't go down in a straight line. A tether line could also double as a hardwired communications line. However, I could envision the tether itself becoming a hazard. Could the submersible get tangled in the tether? Perhaps.[/quote]
