Kate's family is not upper middle class. Sorry to disappoint. They are lower-middle in the UK terms. It is different here in the US as "class" is simply an economic term but in the UK it is about background and education. I don't believe either Mr or Mrs. Middleton attended university. That makes them lower-middle regardless of income.
Nice try. Their current bank account, real estate and lifestyle make them upper class. It’s ridiculous to label them based on their situation decades ago. They are the grandparents of the future king. Even Anne Boleyn’s parents’ status improved dramatically through marriage.
In US terms yes, of course, but not in UK terms. In the UK you can be impoverished and Upper Class, you can be impoverished and Aristocracy but you cannot be uneducated and from a working class background and suddenly become upper class, though you can of course become rich. It is different there. You need to understand there are differences, cultural and in terminology.
In their own generation, no, but their children have become UMC because their parents used their fortune to give them the UMC education. That's how it works there. Money becomes class if used to obtain class credentials.
