If we don’t open to Full time F2F in the fall, we won’t open F2F for the whole year. Nothing will significantly change until next fall (fall 2021) at the earliest. For example, even if we have a vaccine by Jan 2021 it will take time for all the children to get vaccinated, and all the adults. And they won’t be the priority, it will be the high risk populations who will get the vaccine first. The risk doesn’t decrease without a significant event (like a vaccine) for covid. The funding situation for schools will also get worse due to lost taxes. We are bracing for 1-2 more years of distance learning at MCPS.
NoVa already announced that Phase 3 means all students are allowed in the school building with protection guidelines (details TBD) They are expected to enter Phase 3 in a couple of weeks assuming the current trend continues. We still have 10 weeks until school starts. If the current trend continues, we'll be even better shape then. If MoCo still does DL, I will riot against the decision maker.
The devil is in the details. My friend in NoVa told me last week that her ES kid will most likely go in person 2 times per week and the other 3 days will be DL.
And hopefully once it gets closer to school starting/after the first couple weeks of school they will realize how ridiculous it is and return to full time in person school. And "your friend" has no idea what the plans are because nothing has actually been decided.
My friend was correct. Here is FCPS's plan: https://fairfaxcountysepta.files.wordpress.com/202...pening-school-presentation.pdf
