I don’t think what’s wrong with her is a case of post partum psychosis. Severe mental illness runs in her family and ita with the pp who said schizophrenia. It fits with the young adult onset, etc. Also there is enough stigma around it she would never want that getting out— if it were a case of post partum she could have parlayed that onto the talk show circuit. This is way worse.
Schizophrenia in and of itself is NOT a reason to strip someone of their rights. I have two family member with schizophrenia whose affairs I am managing. They have been on the equivalent of 5150 holds several times before we were involved. It’s unfortunate but I guess because no one can take advantage of them, no court sought to place them under the equivalent of a conservatorship. POAs and proper treatment were more than enough to ensure they are ok. Are things perfect? No. But they are adults who have a right to their autonomy and money as long as they can show they remain on their medication and under treatment. And that is all managed for years without a conservatorship.
Yes depending on the degree they do need management. Brittany has plenty of freedom, and a court has determined what is best in her situation.
(1) the Court's analysis is ongoing, as it should be. (2) If you read my post, you would realize that there are degrees where someone's affairs may be managed without a conservatorship. Britney herself has stated that she wants help managing her affairs if the court ends the conservatorship. And even if she is bipolar, that is also not a reason. I have a bipolar friend with an extremely high level clearance and high profile job. As long as her medications are properly managed, she is fine. Remember, Britney was well enough to make millions of dollars and perform on stage weekly during a significant time period while under this conservatorship.
