[/quote] The increase in migration is the result of word of mouth that nobody is getting deported. People are coming to the US because they know they can claim asylum, lose, and still not have to leave. It died down shortly after Trump took office because they thought there'd be a crackdown. When it was clear the laws hadn't changed, it resumed. They know coming in with a kid is a ticket into the US. Most unaccompanied kids coming in are coming to join a relative already living here.
