Um, all of you who keep calling Lochte's defenders racist do know that Ryan Lochte is 1/2 Cuban right (Cuban mom, white dad)?  I assume you are going to tell me that it doesn't matter because he looks white, and therefore enjoys "white privilege."  Is that how it works?  I really want to understand when someone is a person of color and when he's not because, as far as I can tell, Lochte is a POC.  His mother immigrated from Cuba, and she has discussed her Cuban heritage on many occasions, as has Ryan.  So, I don't think we'd act differently if Ryan was Hispanic since, guess what, HE IS!!!!!

As for his sponsors, I agree that they suck.  They may be able to get another Olympian and maybe another swimmer, but he's not going to look like Ryan Lochte.  Plus, Lochte is the second most decorated U.S. Olympian of all time (next to Phelps), I believe.  He's not just some swimmer.

And all those people calling him a liar, isn't is possible his memory was foggy because he was drunk?  What's clear is he was in a taxi, it stopped, guys with guns who it appears showed some badges (according to witnesses) pointed guns in their direction.  Eyewitness statements are completely unreliable when people are sober...when they've been drinking, partying all night, and don't have a super high IQ, no wonder some of the details got messed up.

But I'm not the one who raised race in the first place.  It was all the PPs claiming that he is "white" and that's the only reason some of us are defending him.  So, since they are the ones who attempted to use his whiteness to prove their claim, I think it's their burden to prove that he is white despite the fact that he is 1/2 Cuban (in other words, that his mother is anthropoligically Caucasian, as you put it). And since you are clearly just trying to pass the buck back to me, that tells me that you have absolutely ZERO evidence that Lochte and his mom are "white." Again you keep insisting on the Cuban line and I made it clear to you that Cuban doesn't mean squat in this context, considering that you can be Caucasian and Cuban  .
