Definitely not true.  Especially when they don’t need the money.  If money is not a factor,  many would turn down a mediocre state school for an Ivy. If money is a factor, then that’s a different story [/quote]This is a lacrosse forum.  Not one offered.Maryland recruit in history has ever gone on to instead choose to play lacrosse at Columbia.  You have no idea what you are talking about.

We visited Columbia prior to undergrad. My kid had the opportunity to earn doctorate at Columbia.  Declined.  Would have chosen better public school options as well.
