There's no data on it because redshirting violated DCPS policy and is not allowed at the vast majority of schools. Find me an EOTP school hat has an "unofficial redshirting" policy like the one Lafayette used to have. You can't.

99% is a guestimate but it can't be far off. Redshirting is not permitted at the vast majority of schools absent an IEP and even then it is rare because most educators in DCPS default to the position that keeping a child with their assigned cohort will be beneficial for closing gaps. This is especially the position of most SpEd teachers.[/quote]

People have linked the relevant language over and over. You are the only person who interprets it to be ambiguous. Acting like it hasn't been linked because you choose to read it nonsensically is just disingenuous. Yes, of course they are being more forward-leaning in publicizing this policy since this whole blow up happened.

At our EOTP/WOTR school, there is very limited redshirting. I think there was a little bit more flexibility during COVID (young-for-year kids who didn't start their kids in PK3 to get 45 minutes of zoom and then wanted them to start in PK3 the following year), because we have a couple of August birthday rising 3rd graders (should be 4th graders) that I'm aware of, whereas I don't know of any in other years that aren't explained by IEPs/developmental delays or kids being held back or school district transfers. (That's not to say there aren't any, but there haven't been in my kids' classes.) To be perfectly honest, the rising 3rd graders I know are actually precocious girls with attorney parents who are probably not dissimilar to the Lafayette crowd; the two girls in question would be middle of the road+ in every respect in the grade ahead and one would probably be an academic standout even the year ahead, making it even more unnecessary.[/quote]
