That’s “FVU”
I know you are disappointed because now you can’t make fun of FVU. It’s FXU, check the new logo.
C'mon it's forever McBrave, low budget fast food knock-off. Ya get it? Also, Union girls arent good enouh for Arlington see previous posts, Arlington moms are sharpening their pens and preparing their summer homes for team auctions
Arlington is the weakest club on the girls side of all the NoVA ECNL teams. They only have one good team on the girls side (the 2011s). So there is plenty of space for stronger Union and Brave girls to displace current team members (if results of ID sessions are based on talent and not loyalty). Here are the ECNL Mid-Atlantic rankings for Arlington teams: 2007s - 5th place 2008s - 10th place 2009s - 9th place 2010s - 7th place 2011s - 1st place But beware Union or Brave girls before heading to Arlington - they lack a college recruiting infrastructure and with the low rankings of most of their teams it'll be hard to get yourself in front of college coaches.
Here's your history lesson for those who just started following the local soccer scene. The environment here changes constantly and it just takes a quick glance around the forum to see that every club has put kids in college, youth national id sessions (2 different camps run by different groups even!), and ultimately professionally. In fact, many of those kids played for multiple clubs over the course of their youth soccer career. Find what's best for your kid right now and re-evaluate each year, because that's what the clubs and coaches are doing too. There are positives and negatives in every one of the situations. Arlington girls (what you reference) are actually the newest ECNL team in the area, starting in Fall 2021-present. This is only their 3rd season as a girls ECNL program. For the 3 seasons prior to that, they were a DA (then GA) girls program, running Fall 2018-Spring 2021. For the 3 seasons prior to that, Fall 2015-Spring 2018, Arlington and Mclean were in an alliance/union. That journey sound familiar? Here's your research in an attempt to short circuit screams of anguish from coaches and administrators and trolls. https://www.soccerwire.com/news/northern-virginia-club-arlington-soccer-joining-ecnl-girls/ https://www.soccerwire.com/news/arlington-soccer-joins-girls-da-receives-boys-da-expansion/ https://patch.com/virginia/mclean/mclean-youth-soccer-and-arlington-soccer-form-ecnl-alliance-0 Loudoun followed a similar path in the opposite direction. They were an ECNL alliance with FCV, then switching together in Fall 2017 to become founding members of the girls DA as an alliance, then Loudoun split off into ECNL in fall 2018, before forming the NVA alliance for Fall 2023. https://www.soccerwire.com/news/loudoun-soccer-fc-virginia-announce-development-academy-partnership/ https://www.soccerwire.com/news/loudoun-soccer-joins-girls-ecnl-for-2018-2019-season/ BRAVE was an alliance, but BRYC was a founding member of ECNL as was Mclean, so both of those clubs have the benefit of being around for 15 years. During those early years, there were only 40 clubs and they were the only 2 in the DMV until FCV came along and made it a party of 3. In the meantime, the population of the DC metro area has grown by about 10%, while the number of "elite" clubs has now more than doubled since those early days, whether you count 5+2 or 4+3 on ECNL & GA. Boys are similar with many more MLS Next/ECNL teams than 15 years ago, although they ultimately feed into the DCU academy so eventually do all consolidate the best possible DC area team.
BRYC was never a founding ECNL member. BRYC and Loudoun were both added after DA. FCV and McLean were the only founding members in NOVA. Know your history.
