Did you watch the roll call last night?  There are exactly 57 jurisdictions with delegates to the convention; 50 states and 7 jurisdictions without electoral votes, including:

American Samoa
Democrats Abroad
Guam
Northern Marianas
Puerto Rico
Unassigned
Virgin Islands

At the risk of going off topic, here is what Obama said:

"it is just wonderful to be back in Oregon, and over the last 15 months we've traveled to every corner of the United States. I've now been in fifty .... seven states? I think one left to go. One left to go. Alaska and Hawaii, I was not allowed to go to even though I really wanted to visit but my staff would not justify it."

He didn’t say, “states and territories.”  He said, “states.”

And, how did he respond when questioned about this blunder?

And, yes, he was campaigning and misspoke.  Same as Trump today about NJ.  When corrected by a reporter, he corrected himself.
