DH is 8 years older. Now that he is 60 and I am 52 I am noticing the differences more. Luckily he is in great physical shape but is slowing down in ways I'm not.
My parents are the same age, born withing a couple of months. Mom is quite spry still. Dad is a wreck. My husband is 17 years older than me. I'm in a worse shape physically than he is. I seek medical assistance more often and take medication. You just never know. People who think years down the road make me smile. It's pure hubris. First, you assume you'll live a long life. Then you assume you will be healthy enough to be a "nurse" and so on. I'm of the school of thought that nothing is guaranteed for us, and the most you can do is live in the now. Why on earth would I forgo love, family, happiness now for something that may or may not happen in the future? It is the definition of insanity.
