She understood it was unpaid when she decided to pursue the opportunity. If she was unable to work the entire agreed upon time due to an existing illness or personal issues, it should have been explored during the application and interview process, and the employer should have been given the opportunity to decide if she was still a suitable candidate, or if another student who could meet the time commitment would be preferred. I agree with the PPs saying this is indicative of what the new workforce is like, and things like this are the reasons why. These kids are taught early that if something comes up in their private lives, they don't have to work around it.[/quote]
