I think he sees a little of himself in her.  He knows he could easily be booted out of the group and did feel he was poorly treated at the end of the last season.  Another poster nailed it about Craig being more of a friend of the group but not really part of the group.  Also, Craig & Katherine are younger than most of the others.[/quote]
