As a matter of FACT, "Fillmore East" was a project that never took off. Kaya cannot credibly use it as a talking point for destruction of Fillmore. It's been around for 42 years and has served the same core primary schools for that entire time. And I have no idea what PP is talking about with respect to "desegregation efforts"...something odd going on there.
Fillmore East according to Fillmore itself https://friendsoffillmore.files.wordpress.com/2012/06/2012-april-newsletter.pdf 2013 Fillmore East and West had 3,000 kids in 11 schools. 2015 Fillmore West has 1,600 kids in 5 schools. Setting aside the historical reputation of Fillmore for a moment, today 3 of the 5 schools, Key, Ross and Reed, are 2 miles from Fillmore. Yet each is only yet only 1 mile from a DCPS schools with full-time arts educators. Mann, Garrison, and HD Cooke, respectively. Hyde-Addison is roughly equidistant between Fillmore and SWWFS. Purely from a logistics standpoint, how is Fillmore justifiable as a stand-alone resource for 45 minute classes? Please don't point out the 40 year history. We get it.
